The Veterans Integration Program (VIP) is a scheme run by Goldman Sachs to hire more ex-military personnel at the bank. VIP is not the only such initiative being run at global companies, but it sets the gold standard for facilitating veterans landing roles once they finish serving.
Tapping into the variety of experience military veterans can bring to the firm, VIP offers them the chance to develop their skills, connect with mentors and discover the opportunities available at Goldman Sachs. Without the civilian qualifications usually required to work at such a firm, this military transition program opens doors to veteran integration.
How does the Veterans Integration Program work?
The aim of VIP is to select appropriate ex-military candidates and support them through the firm’s pre-interview preparation process. The integration program utilises events and initiatives to ensure veterans are in the best possible position to secure a role at Goldman Sachs. Recent iterations of the scheme have expanded to include military spouses and domestic partners.
Professional development, skills building and developing a network are encouraged within VIP by:

VIP eligibility requirements
While VIP opens up a career path to veterans who may not have all of the qualifications usually expected of a civilian candidate applying to Goldman Sachs, it is still very selective. The eligibility requirements for applying are:

Which companies offer the Veterans Integration Program?
Goldman Sachs runs VIP, but there are a number of similar schemes operated by other organisations. For example, BAE Systems has a Warrior Integration Program that aims to integrate post-9/11 service members into a career at the company. JPMorganChase’s EMEA Military and Veteran Programmes also offer post-military opportunities.
The UK government’s Career Transition Partnership offers comprehensive support for armed forces personnel transitioning into a civilian career. Resettlement information and advice comes in the form of career counselling, skills development, vocational training and online resources.
Roles and salaries offered in the Veterans Integration Program
Goldman Sachs puts a lot of emphasis on finding the right role to match the military experience and interest of veterans entering the company via VIP. This gives service leavers a lot of control over what their new career might look like.
The average VIP salary at Goldman Sachs is £45,000, taking all bonuses and profit sharing into consideration, according to Glassdoor. The career trajectory via VIP has plenty of potential for growth, making it a good route into the business.
